What do we mean by strongly correlated electron systems ?

본문

"No doubt, the subject of “strongly correlated electrons in low dimensions” is an increasingly important many-body problem to be resolved in this century. This is, also, a subject of intellectual challenge for the “hungry minds”.

First, explict discussions on the meaning of strongly correlated electrons will be given by paying a particular attention to the physics of Luttinger liquid or non-fermi liquid manifested in the low dimensional systems. Second, I will explain why a novel symmetry, namely, the gauge symmetry is needed for studying the two dimensional systems of strongly correlated electrons. Third, based on these knowledges I will present a recently developed theory of studying phase transitions in high Tc superconductivity. Finally, a possible breakthrough of this theory will be highlighted by demonstrating its predictive power of numerous experimental observations
