Radiation from Relativistic Electrons
♦ Speaker : Prof. Helmut Wiedemann [Stanford University]
♦ Place : Physics Seminar Room (Science Bldg, 3-201)
♦ Date & Time : May. 22(Fri) 4:00 ~ 5:00 pm
ØAbstract
This talk is mainly aimed at undergraduate and graduate students as well as those
who have a general interest in the generation principles of synchrotron radiation.
In this presentation the principles of radiation production from relativistic electron
beams are introduced. These principles lead to the radiation characteristics of
synchrotron radiation from bending magnets and undulator, wiggler magnets.
The origin of properies as collimation and spectrum are discussed. Synchrotron
radiation can be polarized and the circumstances for that to happen will be
described. Finally, a variety of less conventional radiation sources like, Transition
and Channeling radiation, Parametric X-rays and stimulated Transition radiation
will be covert shorly.
Contact Person : Prof. Moohyun Yoon (054-279-2080, moohyun@postech.ac.kr)
