Faculty Position Announcement by Dept. of Physics, POSTECH

 The Department of Physics of POSTECH (Pohang University of Science and Technology), ranked No. 28 in the Times Higher Education (THE) Annual Survey of universities in the world in 2010, is seeking to fill two tenure-track faculty positions. Applications in the areas of (i) ultrafast optics / high field science and (ii) scanning probe microscopy are particularly welcome.

 Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in Physics or a related field and more than two years of post doc experience in these research fields. The successful candidate will be expected to teach, in English, undergraduate and graduate courses, and to supervise graduate students. Applicants must have the ability to establish a strong research program. The successful candidate is expected to start from September of 2011 or March of 2012. The successful candidate in the area of ultrafast optics/high field science is expected to work closely with Max Planck Center for Attosecond Science led by Prof. Dong Eon Kim. The successful candidate in the area of scanning probe microscopy is expected to work closely with Center for Atomic Wires and Layers directed by Prof. Han Woong Yeom.

 The candidates selected will also become part of a team of professors who have recognized expertise in condensed matter physics, optics, biophysics and plasma physics.  Members of the department are also involved in several well-established research networks.
